Bike/Ped Update. We have learned that the City of Eugene has a 60% design plan for the Merry Lane connector to the River Front Bike Path. The RRCO Bike/Ped committee will be scheduling a meeting with Lee Shoemaker (Eugene Bike Ped Coordinator) to review and give feedback to the plan. If you are interested in hearing what is proposed and aren’t already on the Bike/Ped Committee, drop a line to Jon Belcher (jbelcher@efn.org), and we will keep you informed.

Neighborhood Watch Network for River Road. As the number of burglaries increases, the number of people asking to be placed on the Police Alert list. Messages are sent when neighbors have a break in or have information about graffiti or other criminal behavior. We have had an initial meeting to set up Neighborhood Watch groups anywhere in the neighborhood where a cluster of neighbors are willing to meet their neighbors and invite them to learn how to watch out for one another. A future RRCO meeting will be devoted to home security techniques.
RRCO will provide organizational help. Please let me know at carleenr@gmail.com if you want to be placed on the Police Alert list.

RRCO Holiday Dessert Potluck
December 12, 2011, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
River Road Annex, 1055 River Road
Bring a dessert to share and bring your thoughts about the neighborhood. A time to socialize and build community. We always look forward to this holiday event. Plans are in the works to add some great door prizes as RRCO's gift to the neighborhood. If you were going to give the neighborhood a gift, what would that be? A graffiti-free bike path? Beautified store-fronts? A veggie garden at every home? A plaza for gathering for summer events? A restaurant you would want to go to for a celebration dinner? An art gallery? Less asphalt at the playground at River Road School? More frequent LTD buses? What are you dreams?

Several RRCO Board members and neighbors attended the September Neighborhood Summit at North Eugene High School about building a democracy at the neighborhood level. It was a worthwhile conversation, and we can share it with you through the information posted on the City webpage.
